Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with community service. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home 2 national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was an all-pro three times before beginning his business career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
